Stroke Information

The North Dakota Legislature passed a bill adding acquired brain injury, which includes stroke, to the state's Century Code definition of brain injury in 2019.

This definition change allows the North Dakota Brain Injury Network to partner with the American Stroke Association in its efforts to provide an integrated system that assists individuals across North Dakota who may have suffered from a stroke.

Support groups are a great resource for individuals who have experienced a stroke. A stroke is considered a brain injury, and there are a number of brain injury and stroke groups across the state. If you or a loved one has experienced a stroke, you are welcome to attend a stroke-specific or brain injury support group meeting in your area. Find a North Dakota Brain Injury Support Groups.
