Concussion Symposium Follow Up

On World Concussion Day (September 16, 2022) more than 75 registered to attend NDBIN's 3rd annual Virtual Concussion Symposium. The day focused on the importance of a multidisciplinary approach.

Crisis Intervention Trainings

Did you know that 10% of the general population has a brain injury? But what's even more shocking is that studies show that up to 50-80% of individuals within the criminal justice system population have a brain injury.

NDBIN has been invited to speak at the Bismarck Police Department's Crisis Intervention Training, led by Darrin Herrecht, four times. The 40-hour, weeklong training, takes place several times a year, and each training has 20-40 officers participating.

NDBIN is proud to be a part of the training and currently has an hour and a half to talk about the impact of having a brain injury, and how that may lead to an individual's involvement within the criminal justice system. Carly Endres has gone each time and presented on prevalence, symptomology, and intervention strategies for officers and their counterparts in hopes of reducing the number of individuals involved within the criminal justice system that have brain injuries.
